I was a little hung up on my obsession with peppermint oil's headache fighting powers, that for a long time I didn't investigate what else this oil could do.
And it turns out, peppermint oil has no shortage of uses. Peppermint (which is actually a hybrid of water mint and spearmint) is one of the oldest herbs/oils to be used. It stars prominently in eastern medicine. Let's take a look at what peppermint oil does exactly.
Peppermint oil is a vasodilator

How does that benefit runners?
Bodies need oxygen to function, but they especially need a good flow of oxygen during intense aerobic activities like running. Applying peppermint oil to the bottoms of your feet improves circulation of your feet during running. Of course, this won't make you automatically qualify for the summer Olympics BUT it will assist you if you put in the work too. (No short cuts here, people!)
You'll get the same effect by rubbing some on your chest before doing push-ups.
