Babywearing Doesn't Just Save Your Sanity: Study Shows It Boosts Your Baby's Health!

When someone asks me, "What is the one baby product you can't live without?", I don't hesitate: it's my Ergo.

10 Reasons You Need a Baby Carrier

  1. Baby carriers make life oh-so-easy, especially if you're running a busy house, running errands, or just want to talk a walk sans stroller. I couldn't imagine traveling -- or even getting through the airport -- without our wrap. Our Ergo is going on eight years, and it's been to Disney World (twice), New York, Chicago, Boca Raton, Brookfield Zoo, the Shedd Aquarium, the grocery store, and countless other destinations.
  2. Getting baby to sleep is a piece of cake.
  3. Babywearing decreases the risk of flat-head syndrome.
  4. Babywearing offers a comfortable sleeping position for baby's with GERD... ahem, my second baby.
  5. Babywearing reduces stress in your baby. Sometimes riding in a stroller in a big city can overstimulate a small baby. Wearing your baby makes your baby feel safe and secure, which reduces the stress hormone, cortisol.
  6. Babywearing is a great way to keep germs away from your baby or toddler during cold and flu season. This is coming from someone who's toddler once licked a garbage can....  ?
  7. Wearing your baby allows your baby to get cozy and bond with Daddy.
  8. Wearing your baby allows you to have two hands to make dinner. Tip: Just use a back carry!
  9. You can take your baby places where strollers can't go. Apple picking isn't fun with a stroller, but a baby carrier gets the job done.
  10. You can't sip your coffee and push a stroller, but you can sip your coffee and wear your baby!

This is just a small dent in the reasons why I'm 100% obsessed with babywearing!

New to babywearing?

If you're new to babywearing, it can be overwhelming trying to find a new carrier. Although I own several (and love them all), the Ergo is perhaps the easiest for beginners. This one safely allows your baby to face-forward without risking injury to the hips, and it's comfortable and adjustable, which means it can easily go from mom to dad with a few simple adjustments.

Feeling adventurous? Try a woven wrap!

While woven wraps do have a slight learning curve, they do offer a few more advantages over the structured carrier like the Ergo. I like that woven wraps offer a LOT of different options for wrapping your baby. The woven wrap can also feel more snug, and I feel that my youngest takes the longest naps when she's in this wrap.

Don't let the price scare you; these wraps are made to support your baby without sagging or fraying. Once I committed to the woven wrap, I received that it was worth every penny... once your baby starts snoozin', you'll see that they are indeed priceless.

I just learned how to use my Moby Wrap! I’ve had it since baby one but opening a giant piece of fabric intimidated me! I’m so glad I learned- it’s truly baby’s happy place and perfect to free up my hands for the toddler.

I love the Moby! I used that all the time when Ari was a newborn!
